Day 1: Snowmobile Adventure & Northern Lights Experience

Ride into Hatcher Pass

Your adventure begins with our private shuttle service from Anchorage before arriving at Snowhook Kennel late morning to gear up and meet the team. After introductions, equipment fitting, and a safety briefing, your adventure into the mountains begins.

Snowmobile into Hatcher Pass through snowy forest trails, open terrain, mountain valleys, and winding backcountry routes on the way to Snowhook Lodge. Whatever your ability, first time or experienced, our expert guides will coach and develop your riding. Conditions and scenery constantly change throughout the ride, creating an experience that is both exhilarating and deeply immersive.

Snowmobiling in Alaska’s backcountry is beautiful and exciting. Weave through single-track forest trails beneath snow-covered trees, and play in wide powder fields surrounded by mountains and forests.

Arrive at Snowhook Lodge to watch sunset across our valley, and guests settle into their private cabins before enjoying a chef-prepared dinner at the lodge.

Later in the evening, conditions permitting, guests can head back out by snowmobile for a northern lights ride deeper into the mountains for darker skies and open views across Hatcher Pass. For those preferring a quieter evening, the lodge itself offers the perfect place to relax with access to the hot tub, sauna, wood stoves, communal areas, and mountain views beneath the night sky.

Day 2: Ice Fishing Adventure

Frozen Lakes & Remote Alaska

Wake up in your private backcountry cabin beneath the mountains of Hatcher Pass. After a relaxed morning and chef-prepared breakfast at Snowhook Lodge, guests prepare for another full day of Alaskan winter adventure.

Today starts from Snowhook Kennel as we travel back into Alaska by snowmobile, riding through forest trails, frozen terrain, and open backcountry routes toward remote frozen lakes. Snowmobiling through Alaska’s wilderness combines technical riding, flowing trails, and mountain scenery.

Our guides will take you to the best fishing spots. At the lake, a heated tent and all the equipment are prepared, and our guides will take care of everything. Fish species may include rainbow trout, Arctic char, and northern pike, depending on conditions and location. Again, we will tailor to every experience level, whether you’re a seasoned pro or this is your 1st time on the ice.

Remote lakes, fresh mountain air, and complete silence create a side of Alaska that feels calm, peaceful, and deeply connected to the landscape.

Afterwards, guests return to Snowhook Lodge for another evening in the mountains. Dinner is prepared at the lodge, with the remainder of the evening free to enjoy the hot tub, sauna, communal lodge, northern lights, or simply relax beside the fire after a full day outdoors.

Day 3: Matanuska Glacier Experience

Ice, Mountains, & Local Food

After breakfast at Snowhook Lodge, head out for one of Alaska’s most iconic natural experiences. Travel North into the Matanuska Valley, through mountain passes, frozen river systems, and dramatic winter landscapes to the Matanuska Glacier region. Snowhook shuttle vehicles and trailers transport both guests and snowmobiles deeper into the Alaskan wilderness for a unique adventure.

Ride toward the glacier before continuing on foot to experience the beauty of ancient glacier ice up close. Towering formations, deep blue ice, crevasses, and frozen landscape, this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Many adventures in just a single day. Snowmobile travel, guided glacier hiking, photography opportunities, and remote mountain scenery all come together to create one of the most visually striking parts of the journey.

Our guides will lead and support you while sharing knowledge of the landscape, glacier environment, and surrounding wilderness.

Dinner is included at a local Alaskan Ale House on our return journey to Snowhook Lodge for the evening. Back at the lodge, guests can unwind in the sauna or hot tub, enjoy the communal spaces, and settle in for another night in the mountains beneath the Alaskan sky.

Day 4: Dog Sledding Adventure

Alaskan History and Speed

After several days of mountain riding, glacier exploration, and remote travel, the final full day of the adventure shifts pace completely.

Following another relaxed morning and breakfast at Snowhook Lodge, guests return to Snowhook Kennel for a guided dog sledding experience through Alaska’s winter wilderness. Dog sledding offers a completely different connection to Alaska than snowmobiling. Where snowmobiles are powerful, fast, and exhilarating, travelling behind a team of working sled dogs feels calm, rhythmic, and almost meditative.

Glide quietly through snowy forest trails, across frozen terrain, and into peaceful sections of backcountry Alaska with only the sound of runners moving across snow and the dogs working together ahead of you.

Our dogs are a central part of the Snowhook experience. These are not simply tour animals. They are athletes, personalities, and part of the Snowhook family. Guests spend time around the kennel, learn about the dogs and the lifestyle surrounding them, and experience a side of Alaska deeply connected to its history and wilderness traditions.

Finally, our private shuttle service will return you to your hotel or Airbnb.
