FAQ's

The northern lights, also known as the aurora borealis, are a natural light display in the Earth’s sky, predominantly seen in high-latitude regions around the Arctic. They occur when solar particles collide with gases in Earth’s atmosphere, creating vibrant colors and patterns. The best area to see the northern lights includes Hatcher Pass in Alaska, where guided tours offer an unforgettable viewing experience. For those planning a trip to see the northern lights, consider an Alaska northern lights tour for an immersive and breathtaking adventure.

The northern lights, or aurora borealis, form when charged particles from the sun collide with gases in Earth’s atmosphere. These particles, mostly electrons, are driven by the solar wind and guided by Earth’s magnetic field towards the polar regions. When they hit the atmosphere, they excite gas molecules, causing them to emit light. The colors of the aurora depend on the type of gas: oxygen produces green and red lights, while nitrogen causes blue and purple hues. This stunning natural display can be best viewed during a trip to see the Northern Lights in Alaska.
